I see a lot of rhetoric about how these raids are supposedly good for American women because they're deporting "violent criminals that rape and murder women" when the reality is completely different. The vast majority of people being deported dont fall into that category and the impact is a net negative for women, not a positive. Im tired of the disinformation and purple washing of this issue.

It's almost all workers and harmless people being kidnapped and deported. If their worst crime was that they came in without following the legal steps, then honestly I don't care. Leave them alone. Find and deport actual criminals. The people in the fields, cleaning houses, sitting in the Home Depot parking lot waiting for day labor gigs, are probably not MS-13, Tren de Aragua, or whoever else the current administration claims they're looking for.

I'm not sure if more of these raids and kidnappings are actually happening in blue vs. red states, or if the blue state ones are just publicized/weaponized more by the administration. If it's happening more in blue states, it's no accident. I think it's a deliberate attempt to cripple blue state economies. But that's probably its own discussion.

I had to look up purplewashing and yes, that's exactly what's happening here. I'm surprised we haven't seen "the feminist case for ICE roundups and deportations" articles yet.

I think more of them are happening in blue states and/or blue areas (although im not certain) for a couple of reasons. On one hand, it is often common for a lot of immigrants to go to blue states since they tend to have more state level protections. It is also common for a lot of immigrants to go to bigger cities, which tend to lean blue. So I do think blue states (but also blue cities) could, overall, have a higher immigrant population and thats part of it.

But, I do also think they target blue states more to fuck with their economies, absolutely. They're so open about how much they despise anything that leans even a little blue, it would be hard for me to believe they weren't doing it on purpose. Like they've been going hard after California, but not really as hard after Texas with these raids even though they both have high latino populations (cause lets be real, they're just racially profiling latinos). Doesn't mean both states dont have plenty of ICE raids going on though. It does seem like the CA ones are the most publicized.
