Whenever I'm on other social media people seem so convinced that men can be women and vice versa, and that to suggest otherwise, is the most monstrous thing. They compare it to murder, fascism and genocide, but they can only ''refute'' our points with strawmen arguments and ''because I say so''-type reasoning, basically. But sometimes it's clear to me that they do seem somewhat aware of the alternative viewpoints, but they misrepresent them, and a cirklejerk of sorts follows. (for example, they might say ''TERFs say that women are only real women if they're feminine enough and have children!!'' That sort of thing)

But in me, the question always itches. Do these libfems truly and wholly believe this? And when it's an isolated discussion, (no connection to trans stuff) they're perfectly fine with admitting that a man is far stronger than a woman and that thus, a woman is more vulnerable to violence... Yet when it's about sports or prisons it's the most outrageous thing, of course women aren't weaker than men! We don't know what women are anyway, biologically! And these are just a few examples where I look at the mass of likes of upvotes and think ''really? Actually? Deeply?''

So the question always lingers and itches, but it can't be asked. Does anyone here have more RL experiences with these people and their views? Do they believe it all as staunchly as they proclaim? I had some hope that after a decade or so we could finally start slowly acknowledging the truth here or there but that doesn't seem to be happening. People likely also entrench themselves more deeply because Trump/the GOP are so utterly polarising and divisive.

I think it depends. I think there are those that "truly believe" and for those people, it functions much like a religious belief system. That's why in those cases you run into a lot of logical fallacies and poor arguments. They believe gender is immutable and "real" in the sense it is not merely deeply entrenched sexist stereotypes, they don't want to think that far, and so it ends up being that their arguments are of low quality.

Then there are those libfems who kinda just "agree" with it in the name of "playing nice." Basically being overly welcoming and accommodating to all. They don't think too hard about it, just "be nice!"

I think so as well. Unfortunately, due to the Trump win and a Republican majority in both the House and Senate, and the rampant desecration of democracy and social welfare institutions that soon followed, those on the left kinda went in a full "panic" mode, and have to play defense/for survival. There is "no time" to debate on the sexist nature of transgenderism when abortion and birth control are being attacked, women's and children's food programs are being cut, people are losing social programs, and so on.
