Hegseth reposts story tying him to church with pastors who say women shouldn’t vote
https://archive.ph/FxUip

Quote:Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reposted a CNN segment about a pastor who believes women should not vote on the social media platform X.

The segment largely focuses on Pastor Doug Wilson, a Christian nationalist who cofounded the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches (CREC) in Idaho.

The report shows Wilson advocating for a Christian nation and entertaining the idea that women should not vote.

In the video, Doug Wilson says he wants a Christian world. He thinks men should be dominant and women should submit to their husbands. He says that women are "the kind of people that people come out of," and that it doesn't take any talent to reproduce biologically. He says there is a mutual affection between master and slave in certain contexts. He wants to remove same-sex marriage. He says he’s not a white nationalist, fascist, racist, or misogynist. He thinks the US will be a full Christian nation in 250 years.

These ideas obviously aren't new, but for the Secretary of Defense to be openly supporting them is so fucking insane.

It's also insane how many Americans seem okay with this.

August 7 2025: US to rewrite its past national climate reports (wtf??) https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20250807-us-to-rewrite-its-past-national-climate-reports

Quote:US President Donald Trump's administration is revising past editions of the nation's premier climate report -- its latest move to undermine the scientific consensus on human-caused global warming.

The decision, announced by Energy Secretary Chris Wright during a CNN appearance Tuesday night, follows the government's revocation of the Endangerment Finding, a scientific determination that underpins a host of regulations aimed at curbing greenhouse gas emissions.

Asked by CNN's Kaitlan Collins why previous editions of the National Climate Assessment were no longer available online, former fracking company CEO Wright responded: "Because we're reviewing them, and we will come out with updated reports on those and with comments on those."

First published in 2000, the National Climate Assessment has long been viewed as a cornerstone of the US government's understanding of climate science, synthesizing input from federal agencies and hundreds of external experts.

A former fracking company CEO being in charge of federal US energy programs and "rewriting" climate reports... The Idiocracy speed run continues. Hope someone archives the original reports?

Trump Names 5 Cities as He Says National Guard Deployment Will 'Go Further'
https://archive.ph/IXjOK

Quote:President Donald Trump called out five cities across the United States as he discussed his decision to formally declare a public safety emergency in Washington, D.C., triggering a federal takeover of the city's police department.

Trump's remarks insinuated that Baltimore, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Oakland could face a similar effort from his administration, with the president saying the effort to address crime and homelessness in the U.S. would "go further" as he specifically named the cities...

The move marks one of the most aggressive federal interventions in local law enforcement in recent history. While the president holds direct command over the D.C. National Guard, governors typically control Guard units in their own states.

Trump has signaled he may extend similar measures to other Democratic-led cities, naming Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Baltimore as potential targets for federal deployments.
