News Wisconsin Planned Parenthood Will Stop Abortions—Even Though They’re Legal
Quote:At least one Planned Parenthood affiliate is preparing to drop abortion services in an apparent bid to remain eligible to participate in Medicaid under the GOP budget law enacted this summer.
Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin (PPWI) is not scheduling abortion appointments beyond September 30, two sources confirm to Autonomy News. Under the Congressional budget’s “defund” provision, organizations that provide abortions as of October 1, and received more than $800,000 in Medicaid reimbursements in fiscal year 2023, will be barred from receiving Medicaid reimbursements for one year.
PPWI is the first known affiliate to drop abortion services in the wake of the law. It may also be the first Planned Parenthood affiliate to halt abortion after the 2022 Dobbs decision in a state where such care is still legal.

given planned parenthood is unclear on women these days....if they do not help with reproductive planning, what is the purpose anymore?
PP offers birth control, reproductive health guidance and planning, and other health services. https://www.plannedparenthood.org/get-care/our-services
If PP continues to lose funding because of abortion and birth control, I hope they don't step up their gender medicine in an attempt to recover lost income, but I could see that happening.

This is sickening and infuriating. Didn't some past anti-choice bullshit law already make it so federal funds can't be used to fund abortions? And now they're twisting reproductive health providers arms so hard that if they even offer such a service, regardless of how it's funded, they lose Medicaid funding? Fucking disgusting.
