RE: The United States' descent into fascism - VerdantHorizon - Jan 7 2026 Why are those plaques what's breaking me right now? How is this real? How are so many Americans okay with this? My coworkers voted for Trump. They still support Trump. They see things like this and they're pleased. No matter how (if?) the midterms and 2028 go, how am I supposed to share a country with these people moving forward? RE: The United States' descent into fascism - Clover - Jan 7 2026 (Jan 7 2026, 9:41 PM)VerdantHorizon Why are those plaques what's breaking me right now? How is this real? How are so many Americans okay with this? My coworkers voted for Trump. They still support Trump. They see things like this and they're pleased. No matter how (if?) the midterms and 2028 go, how am I supposed to share a country with these people moving forward? Probably because it's just so fucking pathetic and sad and it's not a joke. Those plaques belong in a comedy skit, but they're real. Like, it is the physical depiction of the most pathetic state of affairs this country has had yet. The lack of response to it is also what might be "breaking" you. Top this off with America's anti-intellectualism that has always been a strong embarrassing thread, it is getting stronger and thicker, not thinner. You might be interested in this video, I really do recommend it: As a Russian-American who has been in the US much longer than this man; his view on propaganda gives the US populace too much grace, I'm not sure he understands how much anti-intellectualism there is everywhere in this country, deep in this country. It is because his views on propaganda are from a place where intellectualism has not been villainized. Therefore, it may be of interest to you as his explanation of propaganda and how it wears away at you will be useful to you (as someone who is not stupid enough to fall for the basic-ass crazy shit Trumpers do), so you are not caught off guard by these feelings you are feeling as your country starts to slip into authoritarianism, fascism, and chaos. The USA has a "special" additional case of favoring anti-intellectualism that makes the beginning part of the video that the creator thinks is more-or-less "irrelevant" actually relevant in the US: case in point, your befuddlement with your dumbass coworkers. But that is really "entry level" stuff, I do agree with him about that. In the grand scheme of things, those American idiots will seem quaint. The rest of his video goes into the deeper stuff. Those stupid fucking plaques that are "breaking" you are just more of "the beginning", we are not yet at the worst point in this country, with how things are going. I do not know what will happen in the country's future, but it will not be anything good. Sorry for being a doomer. I don't want to be, so, try to find people who are also "aware" of this, to keep each other "sane" and supported. Can be online, better if offline. You're not alone. I think grassroots networks are the only thing that will fix this. They need to be built up. Find people who don't support this, keep in touch, and steer clear of those promoting violence of course (well, some leftists may disagree, it's just my preference as a pacifist weenie). Anyway đ« shit's crazy. RE: The United States' descent into fascism - Clover - Jan 12 2026 Jan 12 2025: US justice department opens criminal probe into Fed chair Jerome Powell https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c801k7rkkd7o Quote:Federal prosecutors have opened a criminal investigation into Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, he said on Sunday. Jerome Powell This is about whether the Fed will be able to continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions, or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure or intimidation. I have deep respect for the rule of law and for accountability in our democracy. No one, certainly not the chair of the Federal Reserve is above the law, but this unprecedented action should be seen in the broader context of the administration's threats and ongoing pressure. ICE/government protests happened this past Saturday due to the government-endorsed murder of Renee Nicole Good. ICE raids still ongoing. Trump is worried about midterms. Some people think he is allowing violence to spread to promote "justification" for enacting martial law and suspending elections (unprecedented, the United States even had an election during the damn civil war). He has apparently been increasingly "joking" about this as time has gone on. Guess we'll see. Is that real?? RE: The United States' descent into fascism - Clover - Jan 13 2026 (Jan 13 2026, 10:21 AM)ShameMustChangeSides Has anyone seen the "One of Ours, All of Yours" picture of Kristi Noem standing behind a podium with that phrase on it? Is that real?? I couldn't find anything debunking it, only social media and news discussing it. There is an AskHistorians post asking about the origin of the phrase, everyone is accepting that the slogan was really used on the podium: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/1qbjtkr/is_the_phrase_one_of_ours_all_of_yours_an_old/ Very gross phrase. But I expect nothing less from such a psychotic person. RE: The United States' descent into fascism - Colibri - Jan 13 2026 It's real. https://jamesfell.substack.com/p/ice-and-the-nazi-history-of-one-of Quote:It is not a direct quote from Nazi Germany, but it certainly embodies the spirit of how they acted when a Nazi was killed by the resistance. One example was the massacre of the Czech village of Lidice... And this one is only slightly different than the Nazi slogan: "Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein FĂŒhrer" (One People, One Empire, One Leader). And this is a QAnon slogan. Making common cause with and voting for these people because they "know what a woman is" was a huge mistake. RE: The United States' descent into fascism - Colibri - Jan 15 2026 January 6, 2026 The White House puts pseudohistory of January 6th on its website. https://www.whitehouse.gov/j6/  Quote:The Democrats masterfully reversed reality after January 6, branding peaceful patriotic protesters as âinsurrectionistsâ and framing the event as a violent coup attempt orchestrated by Trumpâdespite no evidence of armed rebellion or intent to overthrow the government. In truth, it was the Democrats who staged the real insurrection by certifying a fraud-ridden election, ignoring widespread irregularities, and weaponizing federal agencies to hunt down dissenters, all while Pelosiâs own security lapses invited the chaos they later exploited to seize and consolidate power. This gaslighting narrative allowed them to persecute innocent Americans, silence opposition, and distract from their own role in undermining democracy. https://archive.ph/Ac2i2 (doesn't have scroll feature so I'm posting screenshots in case it's deleted later) https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5675182-trump-launches-jan6-website/ https://archive.ph/VvwSx Quote:White House aide Stephen Cheung suggested the site was made as a trolling effort, writing he couldnât believe media outlets âactually fell for our trap.âđ |
